Meet Dr Rituparna (Ritu) Dutta
FRANZCOG
Adelaide fertility specialist and gynaecologist

I am a fertility specialist and gynaecologist based in Adelaide, helping individuals and couples on their journey towards parenthood. I am committed to providing individualised care because every patient’s body, circumstances, goals and options are different.

I originally completed advanced training in India as a fertility specialist, before relocating to Adelaide where I completed my specialist FRANZCOG training in 2022. I have since completed an advanced laparoscopy qualification, a masters in genetics, and am in the final stages of CREI training, Australia’s highest subspecialty qualification in fertility medicine. This extensive training allows me to support my patients through complex fertility and gynaecological concerns with both medical and surgical expertise.

During my CREI training, I developed a particular interest in reproductive endocrinology, the hormonal side of fertility care. This includes conditions such as PMOS (previously known as PCOS) and endometriosis, where hormone imbalances can significantly affect ovulation, egg development, and your chances of conceiving. Understanding these hormonal drivers allows me to look beyond the immediate fertility concern and address the underlying cause, giving you a clearer picture of your options and path forward.

My approach to fertility care

My approach is specific to each patient, rather than one-size-fits-all. I take the time to listen to and understand your history and goals before working out the best path forward together.

I believe in giving you detailed, honest information so you can play an active role in your own care. I would rather you feel informed than falsely reassured. My aim is for you to have a clear, realistic plan, alongside hope.

My care spans both fertility and gynaecology, and for many of my patients, these overlap. Conditions such as endometriosis, PMOS, or pelvic pain can affect both your health and your family-building goals, and it helps to have one specialist looking after the complete picture.

“There is no one-size-fits-all in fertility care. Every patient’s story is different, and my approach is to understand yours fully before we work out the best path forward together.” – Dr Ritu Dutta, Fertility Specialist at Embrace Fertility powered by Genea

Frequently Asked Questions

I like to start by hearing your story, whatever your journey has looked like so far. This includes your general circumstances, not just the medical details. From there, we go through what you have already tried, what results you have had, and what your goals are. Every person is different, so we will work together to find the best route forward for you.

I believe in giving you detailed, honest information so you always know where you stand. I will never give you false hope, but I will also never take away your hope either. A realistic picture and an optimistic outlook can exist together, and that is the approach I take with every patient.

Yes, I see patients with these conditions often and have a particular interest in the hormonal and endocrinology side of fertility. My CREI training gives me advanced expertise in reproductive endocrinology alongside my broader gynaecology training. This means I can look at the complete picture, understanding and managing the underlying causes, not just the symptoms.

Being part of someone’s journey to build their family is a real privilege. There is a genuine joy in seeing them reach their goal and have the family they dreamed of.
