About Dr Rituparna Dutta

Dr Rituparna (Ritu) Dutta is a South Australian gynaecologist with a special interest in fertility. In addition to being awarded her Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, she is currently in the final stages of a CREI Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Her key areas of interest include PMOS (formerly PCOS), endometriosis, pelvic pain, uterine conditions (fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis), menstrual irregularities, perimenopause and menopause care, and fertility concerns.

What to include in your referral

Including clear clinical detail helps appropriate triage and timely care.

Please include:

Patient details: full name, date of birth, address, phone, Medicare number, interpreter needs and relevant social history
Presenting problem: main concern (e.g. pelvic pain, suspected endometriosis, PMOS, infertility, abnormal bleeding, menopause symptoms) and duration
Medical history: significant past medical and surgical history, BMI or height/weight, allergies and current medications
Reproductive history: gravidity/parity, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, contraception use, prior fertility treatments
Investigation results: copies of relevant blood tests, pelvic ultrasound, hysteroscopy/laparoscopy reports, hysterosalpingogram, semen analysis (if available for fertility referrals)
Management to date: treatments tried and response (e.g. hormonal therapy, analgesia, prior surgery)
Partner details (for fertility consultations): partner name, DOB and any known fertility assessment if applicable

Suitable referral indications

Dr Ritu provides comprehensive gynaecology care and management of fertility concerns including:

Suspected or confirmed PMOS/PCOS, menstrual irregularities or anovulation
Endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, including patients who may benefit from advanced laparoscopic assessment
Uterine conditions such as fibroids, polyps, adenomyosis or congenital uterine anomalies, especially in the context of infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss
Infertility and preconception counselling, including consideration of assisted reproductive technologies
Perimenopause and menopause symptom management
Contraception counselling in the context of complex gynaecology (PMOS, endometriosis, heavy bleeding)
